I'm 34 years old, and just recently found out I have cancer.

I never smoked cigarettes, weed, and don't drink

I had an earache, and the ear specialist couldn't figure out what was wrong.

He had me get a pet scan, and turns out my lymph node was cancerous and had swollen up, causing it to pinch nerve that caused ear pain. Also found a tumor on the base of my tongue.

I had a biopsy, and it was determined the cancer devolped as the result of me contracting HPV.

Ish is crazy. I have to do 3 chenotherapy treatments and 35 radiation treatments. I am having surgery to get a feeding tube placed in my stomach tomorrow because the doctors say the effect of the radiation won't allow me to eat.

I take methodone, oxycodene, steroids, and all other kinds of drugs.

I love NT and have been a member for over a decade (classyfreshman was my old name). I need NT to show me some love and hopefully influence the universe to get me better. I have two kids and a lot to live for.

I also want to let people know that this HPV is real, so protect yourself when you are doing your thing. I was married for ten years and felt like i made good choices, but it still can happen to anyone.

So NT I ask you to share your stories, give me some positive energy, make me laugh, something...

Update

Chemotherapy is no joke. There is nothing in this world that can help me explain how I felt after receiving chemotherapy. I got Chemo on 8/17. I was pretty much in and out of consciousness for the next 5 days. I had to go back to the hospital twice because I was so dehydrated. It was the worst feeling in the history of earth. I could feel every sensation, vibration, smell, through my body.

With all of that being said, I am getting through. 28 more radiation and 2 more chemo treatments left. I have lost all taste in my mouth, but I am still able to swallow. I lost 10 pound after chemo but I gained back 3 since. The fight has begun, and I am fighting.

My family started a gofundme campain. ANY #NT help would be appreciated.

Life is scary like that. You could be living a clean lifestyle and still get hit with a fatal disease. It's imperative for us to get regular doctor check ups to possibly catch these diseases early so that it's treatable. I need to take my own advice.

Hope the best for you, combo gd. Keep us updated and keep your spirits high.

I work at a cancer research and hospital now. The experience gave me a new outlook on life. Some things money can't buy.

Stay positive and determined. It helps a lot. NT supports you most definitely.

I wish you a full recovery bruh. Stay strong.

On another note I hope your wife didn't give the HPV infection to you. Because that's grounds for an infinite Rick flair figure four leg lock.

What stage are you?

I am 34 too. Something about this age has gotten me thinking. Maybe cause I am almost like half way to 70 or things that people do in their past start really catching up to them around this time or soon. I have a friend that has been smoking since 14 years old and now has smoked over 50% of his life. The dude is at a pack a day, smells like crap and doesn't take care of himself physically. Like it was all fun and games when we were young but I can only imagine what his lungs look like now. In theory I think the guy has like 20 years left at this rate. I almost think its crazy that he knows what he's going to die of and yet, he won't do a damn thing about it.

I had a couple of people that had cancer and if there is any advise I can give you is fight it and put a real effort into doing it. My uncle was stage 3 when he was diagnosed and cut drinking, eating specific things and more in order to stay alive. Doctors gave him only a couple of years and he lived 10 more. Don't take this for granted. Literally fight this bastard and think positive. All that seriously can help.

Good luck.

Stay strong, bro.
My father had cancer at a similar site, but thankfully he didn't need a feeding tube.
He did have an all liquid diet, though.
So with that and the radiation, it took some hard training to swallow right and eat solid food safely.
Get a swallowing specialist to teach you exercises and a lymphedema specialist to address the swelling and hardness your site is going to have after the radiation.
It's going to be tough, but worth it for your family.

This is the trippy thing about health. There are those people that do all the smoking, drinking, bad diet, lack of exercise and yet they still live a long, regular life. Then you have the ones that are up on all the "scientific studies" on how to eat, sleep, etc and they get hit with a cancer out of the blue. Just goes to show, it doesn't matter what you do, anyone can get got.

I'm Stage IV. They said it developed on the back of tongue and spread to my lymph nodes. The scan showed it hadn't spread anywhere else yet which is good.

Above anything else this had shown me I am mortal. Even though I get caught up in living life, this made me realize my clock is definitely going to stop too. The doctor said that since my cancer is caused by HPV it responds better to treatment. Apparently it is tougher to recover from cancer caused by smoking and drinking.
