Thirst aside though i'm looking to get into this. I've been playing with Callisthenics and gymnastic exercise for a while now but most of that ish can be traced back to yoga. For core strength/stability and flexibility you can't really **** with it.

Other than looking at the yoga pants thread Is anybody into it/ taking classes etc?? :nerd:

I've always wanted to do yoga. heard good things.

I'm just afraid that I'll get too comfortable during some positions I'll just keep farting.

I've taken some classes.

I do a lot of boxing and the impact from all of it can be tough on the body.

So I try to balance that out with Yoga, swimming (though this can be taxing on the shoulders), Pilates etc.

I also have a bit of a bad back.

So Yoga and Pilates help quite a bit with that.

I HIGHLY recommend both. Maybe a few times a day to offset whatever other strenuous activity you might be doing.

I tried Vinyasa yoga at Equinox, and never sweat more in my life. The classes are fairly long for a beginner. Never realized how inflexible I truly was.

Good **** man. Do you which type of yoga it was?? I know there's a bunch and they vary in intensity.

I do some kickboxing so the balance and flexibility will help in that sense.

I do not. I know it wasnt Bikram, which is the hot room Yoga, which I hear is pretty intense.

My boxing gym was bringing in a woman twice a week for classes simply called.....yoga :lol:

And I meant a few times a week, or even a month, not a day.

Try it though. I feel like the beauty of fitness in this day and age is that you can try soooo many different things because everyone has trial classes/low dough trial packs etc.

I do Hot Yoga. I initially wanted to do it because of the hot girls, but there are literally none at the place I go to (I live in Hong Kong).

Anyway, that aside it's great if you sat in an office all day, it just stretches everything out. If you lift during the week it's also a good way to recover, your increased flexibility also helps in the gym as well.

Don't take it lightly though you gotta drink plenty of water before and after or you'll struggle. I sweat buckets and my heart rate gets thumpin so I always make sure to drink a lot of water during that day

My girl been getting into lately so I've been learning a little. Some of the benefits they talk about are amazing.

I've been doing it for two years now, I almost always go for the hot classes, which is great for sweating but harder to improve on your poses (too hot, slipping on your sweat, etc).

Also, don't expect hot women to be there, the most hardworking ones usually are middle aged women that have the free time to do it consistently.

My increased flexibility definitely helps when I lift weights and doing other sports

Vinyassa Flow every monday night @ LA Fitness for about 8 months now..

I was already into meditation for about 3 years, both yoga & meditation overlap & intersect with each other.

Yoga is without a doubt the absolute best way to relieve stress/tension. there's really no other way to release stress/cortisol, except maybe deep tissue massage or sex.

don't buy a cheap 3-5mm mat, search "bixle yoga mat" on ebay, joints are 15mm thick, it's like standing on a cloud :smile:

A lot of people power through on the wrong aspects of swimming.. I swim growing up

Unless you're sprinting, your recover should be relaxed.. It's when your hand enters the water (on freestyle or fly) and you actually pulling back is when you power through

Also a lot of people don't sufficiently rotate their shoulders on their strokes, which makes their strokes unnecessarily rigid
