surprised nobody mentioned nyjah huston. Or is it just the young people that like him? He and Prod are why Im interested and will start skating again. Skated when I was in 7th/8th grade with a walmart board bc I couldnt pay for a real one. Was about to truly learn the ollie but because the trucks on walmart boards are not even real metal, one of them snapped and after that I quit. Now its 2013, im saving up for a pair of the nyjah s and prbly a girl board.

i don't like nyjah, never have.  SL is eh to me, i'll watch it bc it's skateboarding but i think it needs more skaters competing, i think it's lame certain skaters get eliminated bc they're not park skaters, there's a ton of pros that will destroy these SL skaters if given the chance, if it was more like a "bum rush the spot" theme.

nyjah's mom though

Some of my favorite parts:
 i remember some of these.

good **** bruh.

like WATER mentioned, i prefer skaters with style and someone who looks like they're having a blast skating. i don't like all these flip in, flip out tricks, grind to grind or how many times the board flips, the younger generation is getting it all wrong, i'm that old grumpy man when it comes to skateboarding

but ironically, daewon song is my all time favorite skater and shane o niell is my favorite skater right now, they are very technical but still make it look good.

Oxpenguin: how come you don't like Nyjah? Kid is really good and very consistent.

It still amazes me how these kids step it up another level.

his tricks are good but i don't dig his style or approach to skateboarding, idk how to explain. he's too cocky and he uses the same tricks for almost everything. i haven't seen one street part of his that's gotten me hyped, he's too generic and "clean".

i thought the same about chaz ortiz til he put this part out.

is it better to get a complete or buy a custom board? I really like the sanrio girl skateboards (Hello kitty) and was looking at reds bearings, blank wheels and blank trucks.

Always better to go custom, but sometimes isn't worth it if you're a beginner.  If you can find a complete with a deck from a company that uses Canadian maple, indys/thunders/ventures, blank wheels and reds it'd be worth it.  China wood or any other brand of trucks and I'd say no.

go on ebay and cop one of these completes if you're just starting or grab the the package that comes with wheels, trucks, etc if you have a board you want in mind.

just search around, these are great for beginners. once you get the feel for skateboarding you'll learn how to be picky about sizes, brands and so on.

i Have a bias for Koston :nerd:

Got really into skateboarding in 1996.

Went to Camp Woodward PA in 1999 :smokin

Favorite board: Tom Penny Flip circa 1998

Favorite skateboarders growing up: Geoff Rowley, Daewon Song

Phased out of my life in 2003.

Still check for videos, news and certain comps. I guess you could call me an advocate or big supporter of the sport.

Around 2002 a friend of mine had a poster/magazine cutout on his wall with someone skating in white/silver Jordan XI lows

$5 paypal to anyone that can find the pic Im talking about.
Was he skating in SF by some pier? I think I know what you're talking about.
Sounds like it could be right... especially if it was KW, but I dont really remember the specifics.... the only reason it really sticks out in my memory was because I thought it was so crazy seeing someone skate in those shoes.

Started in pools when I was 5 as a transition into surfing. (Stopped for a few years & then picked it back up again.) Now I just longboard throughout the neighborhood. I thought I could do most of the stuff I did when I was younger as I'm still in my 20s, but that's definitely not happening. Taking a fall isn't as forgiving...

My favorites:
Mullen

Natas
Hosoi
Vallely

How was Woodward? I remember always wanting to go as a kid.

I feel you. I stopped for 5 years, took my first slam super hard like 2 weeks after starting up again thinking I was I was going to bounce back up, nah  pretty much had to start skating from the very beginning and get comfortable on the board again.

I do wish I knew how to skate bowls, skating the venice bowls is a dream of mine, I always chill and watch everyone kill it when I go.

Skateboarding was my life growing up. Bummed out my parents that I didn't want to play traditional sports like football, but screw it I made some great friends and have some great memories. I don't skate anymore other than cruising around because i've got knee issues now (thank you skateboarding) but it'll never leave me, it's just a part of who I am. I'll post up some more stuff later, here's a couple things.

This one is dedicated to you OP. Steve Berra signed copy of The End

This is my all time favorite. Heath Kirchart signed copy of Sight Unseen. It's funny because my friends and I used to think this handrail looked so crazy on video. 10+ years later I'm focused on my education, just by chance I ended up going to school where this rail is and I get to see it everyday in person :smokin
